Baby, it’s cold outside!

I can’t believe it’s already the last day of 2017, and that we’ll wake up to a New Year tomorrow. But before that happens one last post from our last day up in the Dacks, at least for a few weeks. And if you can’t tell  by my “frozen” smile, it was seriously cold up there! What you can see with this outfit: a pom-pom beanie, puffer and OTK boots. What’s not obvious? The Uniqlo HEATTECH turtleneck and socks that helped me brave the single digit weather. While not down-filled, this puffer jacket keeps you quite cozy. And it’s also reversible!

Before we hit the road, we stopped at one of our favorite Keene spots, Wendy Monette Interior Design, and bought an etching we’ve had our eyes on. Under the protection of WM’s front porch I could take my mittens off for these first pics, if only for a few seconds. But back to this fashion chameleon of a puffer jacket. It’s a favorite find and at home in both the city and country. And so versatile with its pair of color palettes.

I built the rest of my look based on its grey and black pattern. Both my cozy beanie and ski sweater fit that bill but went one step better with pops of neon. For jeans, I went with slightly distressed skinnies — all the better to tuck into boots. And speaking of boots, I’m loving these black suede, over-the-knee ones. And have no fear I waterproofed them before they ever stepped foot outside. (A must if you want them to make it through more than one winter!) Then some cashmere mittens and my rattan basket bag trimmed in seasonally appropriate faux fur. And let’s not forget my best accessory, Bowie, looking very dapper in his hand knit sweater! What was the most fun was “shopping my closet” to combine old favorites in a new way.

With tonight’s temps hovering in the low teens, I’m planning to rock a cozy NYE look as well. We’re going to a party hosted by my sister and brother-in-law that’s going to be low key and filled with old friends. However you’re ringing in the New Year, I hope it’s special. Cheers to 2017…and here’s to 2018!
