Get Away with Gingham

Hope you had a great weekend! We are having the most amazing weather, and we got to enjoy it even more up at our Adirondack cabin. As you can see, it was seriously picture perfect up there. We always try to go to the Sugar House Creamery and stock up on milk, cheese, eggs and whatever looks good from the Farmer’s Market. New item…pumpkin spice scones! Crazy delicious!! We also had a weekend guest who is a dear friend but also a most talented Producer/Director. I was lucky to have her volunteer to be the photog for this post. BTW, SHC has the cutest Airbnb if you want to come up here and see just how special North Country living is.

Guess what? We HATE to leave on Sunday. It’s always a struggle to decide how early or late we hit the road. Today we split the difference, grilled some chicken, made a gorgeous chef’s salad and hit the road around 6 pm. Luckily the traffic Gods were with us (really, Chris) and we made it home in just over 4 hours. In time for me to get this post off!

So…this outfit. I wore it in the country, but I think it would be totally at home in the city, too. I might swap out the sherpa vest for a black leather jacket or cardigan, but otherwise this gingham is at home everywhere. Let’s start with this super cute bell-sleeve shirt. Sometimes gingham can be too girly for me, but not in black and white. That’s what also adds a sophisticated spin to it. And the ric rac edging on the cuff and the elbow detailing is extra special. I paired it with my new favorite pair of high waist skinny jeans. I will be the first to admit I fought this trend, but now my 50+ waistline loves it! Way more comfortable than Spanx!! The block heel booties are the perfect combo of chic and comfort. And this faux fur-trimmed basket bag is going with me everywhere.

Special thanks to Mary Boss for her keen eye and cool vibe shooting this post…and being a great guest all weekend long!
