Mood Indigo

Maybe it’s because I’m the mother of 3 boys, cough…young men, that I’m drawn to the color blue. Not to mention their (and my husband’s) school colors over the years! Good thing blue is such a deep and versatile color in the best ways possible. With its spectrum from sky light to inky dark, there’s a shade or two or three that’s flattering to everyone. At the moment, electric blue is on the fashion radar, but it’s a bit too intense for me. I’m more of a navy and dusty blue girl. I believe fashion is about being inspired by a trend and making it your own. So find the shade that suits your mood, the moment, and just be true to your blue.

I pretty much LOVE every piece in this outfit, but this whimsical sweater is one of my newest purchases for Fall. It’s a classic crewneck updated with playful, faux fur pom poms. (We all know I am OBSESSED with pom poms!) In keeping with the playful theme, the frayed flounced hem adds an unexpected finish to these faded denim jeans. I can’t tell you how many people compliment me on them. And they are so fun to wear. There’s more faux to show, too. This plush trench is a great transitional coat. Love that it’s leopard with the twist of blue, and the brass buttons polish it off perfectly. And this bucket bag in black-and-blue faux fur is going to be a Fall-into-Winter favorite. Last but not least, these gorgeous navy velvet booties. They are a sophisticated alternative to basic black, and their block heel makes them eminently walkable. Plus they look equally great with pants or skirts. How are you going to “do blue?” I’d love to know!

  1. I may not be your most fashionista follower, but color trends have always been on my radar. Blue is just the most forgiving color on the spectrum and 95% of the purchases I’ve made, more tailored than yours, but seasonally on point , are blue, predominately navy! Suede loafers, velvet flats, cut velvet/bell sleeved top, several sweaters. Rave reviews on a basic Banana Rep slinky T & lomg cardigan in electric blue!!
