Sweater Weather!

Whether we’ve been in Jersey City or up in the Dacks, the weather this February has been pretty crazy. The weekend before we had at least 10 inches of snow on the ground and were skiing at Whiteface. This past weekend? Everything had melted until the dusting we got before we shot this post. And yes, even up in North Country it was warm enough to forego a jacket and just wear a sweater.

Despite being a grey and muddy day, I hope some of the rugged beauty of the Dacks and our hilltop retreat shines through in these pics. I can’t remember a President’s Day Weekend when we were not bundled up in layers and down. So I had to take advantage and get this cozy, curly, kinda crazy cardigan out there! I’ve worn it quite a few times already, and it is a compliment magnet. I loved it the moment I saw it. The subtle palette, the colorblock pattern, the loopy knit and easy fit checked all the boxes for my kind of easygoing style. And that goes for the city as well as the country.

While my look here is decidedly dressed down, I dressed up my flannel shirt in this post. Again, I love the subtle, neutral plaid. The frayed edging on the cuffs and hem add a perfectly imperfect finish. In keeping with the low key vibe, I broke out these distressed skinnies. Normally the air would be too arctic to expose even a peek of bare skin.

I’m obsessed with these rugged booties and am wearing them A LOT. In fact they’re the perfect footwear to wear back-and-forth between city and country, because they literally can stand up to any kind of weather extreme. You can get more details from this post. While this beanie is actually Chris’s, I’ve stolen it for now. It’s by a new brand based in Minneapolis called Askov Finlayson, and their tagline is “Welcome to the North.”We already spotted someone sporting a different hat in Lake Placid. If you live in a northern climate, you need to check them out! (They are already on my Christmas shopping list for next year!)

Hope you like this look. And hope you had a great holiday weekend too. Spring will be here before we know it!
