Warm Up With Wintery Whites

With colder days ahead, it’s easy to bundle up in deeper, darker tones. But I’ve given myself a challenge. It’s to keep my favorite white denim pieces in fall-into-winter wardrobe rotation — only finished with a chunky sweater and booties. There’s something irresistibly refreshing, and even a touch luxe, about mixing shades from crisp white to cozy cream. And I for one am going to indulge!

Cozy up to Shine

While Summer might be my favorite season, I do love the sweater weather of Fall. That’s why I’m getting cozy with this colorful, chunky knit sweater. Typically I would pair it with skinny jeans and some fun booties, but I felt like stepping out of my fashion comfort zone. It was also a shop-my-closet moment that made it fun to rediscover this silky, shiny pleated skirt (seen before in this post), these gorgeous OTK boots (as seen here), and this mini metallic leather bag (as seen here). Which is a roundabout way of saying that you can do the same! And that sometimes it’s the best “shopping” of all.

Put the Pedal to Plaid

Temps have finally hit the 50s here! Yay!! All the more reason to cozy up to a chunky sweater and my new favorite plaid pants. I’m usually a neutral palette girl, but these red plaid pants just made me smile. Spoiler alert: I have already worn them paired with a black turtleneck and black booties, and gotten some pretty sweet compliments as well. Not to date myself, but these slightly cropped pants reminded me of the “pedal pushers” I wore as a kid in the 60s. Pedal pushers were designed because long pants could get caught in bicycle chains. Today, that was enough for me to pump up the tires on my own bicycle…and get riding.

Frock Around The Clock, Look 3

So here’s one last look at dressing up a Summer maxi dress and taking it straight into Fall. Confession: I bought this lovely violet maxi to wear to a wedding but decided to go with a something else when the weather turned cool (and I hadn’t unpacked this sweater or booties!). If you have an early Fall wedding, big party or even special date night planned, I think this outfit would be perfect. And, it combines key fashion trends that show no sign of cooling off — the midi or maxi dress, violet/lavender/lilac, a chunky knit sweater and white booties.

Snowy Stroll

I’m writing this post from our cabin up in the Adirondacks, where they had a foot and and a half of snow two days ago. So as wintery as these pics make Jersey City look, it’s truly a winter wonderland up here. (I will be shooting some ADK posts over the holiday break so stay tuned for those.) Whether I’m dressing for a blog shoot or my “day job” most of my outfits start with a key piece that inspires the rest of the look. I started with this coat but looking at these pics now I’m newly inspired by every single piece. And plan to put them all into heavy wardrobe rotation.
