Baby, It’s Still Cold Outside

Even though Monday was the first day of Spring, here in Jersey City we’ve still been waking up to temps in the high 30s. And up at the cabin, it’s still a snow-covered winter wonderland. In fact, It was a frigid 12 degrees last Sunday morning. But back to today, it’s finally sunny and almost 60 degrees, so I’m cautiously optimistic that I can soon put most of this outfit in storage. We’ll see…

Walking Out of Winter Like…

The March weather here has been seesawing from temptingly Spring-like to blustery and snowy. Which means it’s too soon to pack away my sweaters, boots and puffers. So in an effort to fight off a bit of fashion malaise, when I spied this cozy plaid coat on sale I knew it was the perfect piece to fill out my outerwear wardrobe. To wear now, to look forward to wearing next year.

Not So Plain Vanilla

It’s about this time of year that as much as I rely on black pieces as the foundation to my winter wardrobe, I’m also pretty tired of wearing black, not to mention seeing it on everyone else. But if I’m going to shop for something new, it has to have staying power beyond the here and now. And if I can score it on sale, it’s a done deal.

Varsity Team

If you checked out my last post you already know I’m shopping January’s irresistible store-and-site sales. As for finding deals and steals all I can say is “WINNING!” And by that I mean scoring great pieces I can wear now, into Spring, as well as next Fall and Winter. This look’s key players are this varsity jacket from Opening Ceremony, Madewell tuxedo stripe black jeans and Autumn Cashmere striped sweater. So even on a pretty gray day, I felt like a fashion champ.

Snow Cat

A part of me questioned my fashion maturity when I fell for this ferociously faux feline topper from Kate Spade, but I’m glad I threw caution to the wind and bought it. Because…I simply love wearing it. It makes me smile, not to mention lots of other people. And isn’t that lighthearted side of fashion something we should indulge in every once in awhile? You will be happy to know that because this hat is so lightweight it never leaves me with “hat hair.” Aaah…the practical side of fashion that I love too.
