Fall 2016: If the Shoe fits…

img_4431Each new season gives us a reason to clean out the old (consign, donate, give to a friend, all of the above) and refresh with the new. I haven’t yet fully switched over my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter as the weather keeps seesawing, but I do try to stick to the rule of however much comes in an equal number must go out.

If you’re following my posts, you’ve already seen two of these styles make their debut. The others will be in upcoming shoots. I thought a preview now would be good, as popular looks sell out, plus it may give you some ideas of what you need or just plain want for your own wardrobe. So…here we go…starting clockwise from the top…

The Block Heel Pump is everywhere. And for good reason. It lengthens the leg with some heel height but is also eminently walkable. And it works with any outfit — from dressed up to dressed down. My splurge was the Gucci Marmont. What can I say? It was shoe love at first sight. Here are some other options: Stuart Weitzman in Bordeaux, Steve Madden in Gold Leather (and other colors) and Zara’s fabulous version.

The Caged Flat combines multiple trends (straps, pointy toe) into one super comfortable silhouette. These from J Crew (30% off today with code WEDNESDAY) added texture with snakeskin and sparkle with metallic leather. All good in my book. If I had a Real Housewives closet (and budget!) I’d treat myself to a Valentino Rockstud pair, but  Zara’s strappy take or Asos super bargain version are also great.

The Ballet Flat is yet another style almost every top designer has put their stamp on. Maybe it’s because I studied ballet my entire childhood (and modern dance beyond that), but these shoes make me feel light and graceful on my feet. Not to mention you can make tracks when you need to. If money were no object I would have scooped up the Miu Miu version, but Zara once again came to the rescue. I’m still pining for Chloe’s scalloped ones…

The Lace Up is, surprise, another flat. These are H&M (no longer available) and were a total bargain. I love the dusty pink color. It will be so pretty this fall yet still feel fresh come next spring. If you want to go flat, these are all very affordable alternatives: H & M,  J. Crew Factory  and Halogen for Nordstrom. There are also some pretty fabulous block/high heeled options out there: H & M  (steal) or Valentino (splurge).

The Fur Trimmed Anything has been wildly popular for awhile, with Gucci’s slip-ons stalking the fashion scene and even the streets of JC since last spring. On a whim I picked up these sandals from Zara. They are trimmed with soft, beige-y faux fur, because I am re-thinking the real deal. Especially since all the faux out there is both cozy, chic, and most importantly, cruelty free. You can continue your hunt with these: ZaraZara again (if you have small feet), Kate Spade slippers that I think some of you could rock as streetwear, and these sandals from Betsey Johnson, in Black and Bordeaux.

Are there other styles you’d like to see? Or have already shopped? Let me know!
