Think Warm Thoughts

Thirty one days of holiday hoopla kick off tomorrow, and the true meaning behind what we’re celebrating can easily get lost amidst the shopping, working, wrapping, partying, traveling, stressing. But before that happens, or hopefully doesn’t, let’s take a moment to talk about the fashion phenomenon of faux fur. It’s EVERYWHERE. And for good reason. It’s the best of cozy…without the cruelty. I have to say I truly didn’t want to take this coat off once I had it on. Call me weird, but I’d sleep in it if I could. Or at least sneak a nap!

Cyber Monday

There’s less than an hour left in 2018’s Cyber Monday countdown, and I for one can’t wait for it to be over. Spending Thanksgiving up at our Adirondack cabin with limited wifi made stepping back from the frenzy pretty easy. But if you’ve been shopping the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and scoring the bargains that are going to make your holiday season easier and more affordable, cheers to that!

With everyone’s wifi access limited to my lone hotspot, it was easy to step away from my laptop on Black Friday and drive to Lake Placid with my husband Chris. It was a spectacular day — if a bit (just a bit!) chilly at 12 degrees. But we were dressed for the frigid temps and enjoyed a lovely, after-lunch walk around Mirror Lake, then a nap once we’d made it back to the cabin. April and I did our part to support Small Business Saturday by shopping at our two favorite local stores, Dartbrook Rustic Goods in Keene and The Birch Store in Keene Valley. Both their websites have an array of unique gift ideas.

Layer on the Leopard!

Ah yes, our favorite feline continues to stalk the fashion scene. Call me a super fan, but I just can’t quit my love for leopard. Whether you want to layer it on as I’ve done in this look or just spice up your wardrobe with one purr-fect piece, there’s no better time than now to take the leap. I promise you’ll be glad you did.

Warm Up With Wintery Whites

With colder days ahead, it’s easy to bundle up in deeper, darker tones. But I’ve given myself a challenge. It’s to keep my favorite white denim pieces in fall-into-winter wardrobe rotation — only finished with a chunky sweater and booties. There’s something irresistibly refreshing, and even a touch luxe, about mixing shades from crisp white to cozy cream. And I for one am going to indulge!

Seeing Stars

Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away…I stepped out of my fashion comfort zone. Well, really, just in Jersey City. I had been thinking about how to let these feather-trimmed pajama pants finally take flight. An impulse purchase, they had languished in my closet for over a year. Crazy, I know. When I spotted this amazing street art on my way home from the Path train, I knew the time and place were perfect. And it was worth the wait. Now, I’ve got big plans for my feathery fashion piece, as well as this cozy hooded sweater, glitter sneakers, and beaded bucket bag.
