We have a log cabin nestled on 101 mountain acres in the Adirondacks. Dream come true? You bet ya.  My husband Chris has been hiking up there since he was 16. I think it was on our second date that he suggested we go up and climb a 46er. Flash forward a few months later to a rainy, cold, almost gale like October, and we were on the way up Gothics — aka pretty damn scary. Chalk it up to being fit, foolish, feisty and 20-something but climb my first 46er I did. And after a hot shower and some craft beer, I fell in love with this most magical spot in the world. We’ve never looked back. Though we’ve kept our Keene Valley Real Estate agents busy for years…and years…as we searched for the perfect property.

Buying our cabin meant a massive life change, in that we sold our lovingly restored,  TV-location ready, Victorian Farmhouse in suburban NJ, moved what was rustic-ready and “home” up to the Dacks, rented an apartment in Jersey City, and started a whole new chapter.

Part of that process was streamlining my wardrobe (Chris would say ha ha), which had been comfortably housed in 2 huge walk-in closets. Think city and country. Think give away to friends, family, charity. Think consignment. Think yard sale. It was actually kind of fun to invent my country self and what I would wear…up there.

I think you might be going gaga for the coat. I was. It’s vintage and scored at one of my favorite haunts, Adirondack Attic. Do NOT miss this place if you are up North. Its proprietor Katie is a super cool chick, and she has an amazing eye. Saw this coat…and it was mine. The rest of the outfit was shop-my-closet: fun wool sweater, distressed black jeans, distressed leather booties, tassel crossover bag and tassel necklace to match. Oh…and an adorable YorkiPoo named David Bowie doesn’t hurt.
