Just like garden annuals, summer always seems to bloom with floral prints (as seen in this recent post). And I am not one to resist their pretty, feminine appeal. But…sometimes I like my flowers to be powered up with a bolder, more graphic palette. And this floral print top-and-skirt combo was ripe for the picking!
This outfit’s top and skirt were part of the same Who What Wear capsule collection and not necessarily designed to be worn as a set. But that didn’t deter me from trying them together, and I’m so glad I did. And while I love the graphic combination they create, each piece offers so many possibilities when paired with something else. (To note: WWW collections sell out FAST, so I promise to be better about posting looks sooner so you won’t be disappointed. I’ve also linked some great alternatives below.)
I’ve already worn this puff-sleeved floral-print top multiple times with different pant options (great casual “date night” look). As you can see, you wear this top tied up with a bow neckline or open for a more free-flowing feel. It’s Boho chic with just a bit of an edge.
I love the skirt’s high waist and asymmetric hemline. It too is going to be worn in multiple ways — with a black tank and sandals, as well as a white tee and sneakers. Not to mention with black booties come fall.
I’m not usually a fan of “matchy matchy,” but this crossbody bag was simply too cute to resist. Again, it can be carried as a top-handle bag for more fashion mileage. And it will definitely punch up lots of other summer outfits.
As for my slides, how fresh is this double-banded style? This sandal does a stellar job of highlighting of-the-moment see-through details with the modern ease of an angled block heel.
For accessories, I wanted to keep the vibe anything-but-expected, so I reached for a favorite bold black watch and mismatched earrings.
If you’re feeling a little “over” anything floral, I hope this look inspires you to try something unexpected. Let me know if you do!
