Frock Around the Clock, Look 1

Happy Fall, y’all! Today is officially its first day, and there’s actually a refreshing crispness to the air that wasn’t there last week. And I’m loving it! But since it’s still early days, I want to get extra fashion mileage out of some of my favorite summertime frocks. More specifically, the midi and maxi dresses a lot of us lived in. It just feels too soon to say goodbye until next year. So, let’s not. Let’s transition those dresses straight into Fall with just a few simple steps. Are you ready to Frock Around the Clock?
You may remember this dress from this post. Or heck, you might not. Either way, it was an absolute steal from last year’s Who What Wear x Target Collection. I think it looks like a million bucks, and even better, it makes me feel like a million bucks whenever I wear it. And because it’s a floral pattern on black, it’s even easier to transition this dress into the cooler days ahead. I will layer a thin black turtleneck under it and add black tights when the temperatures really dip.

For now, this sleek, sophisticated black moto jacket does the trick. I’ve been trying to stick to my “Low Spend September” Plan, with the emphasis on trying. When I found this jacket at Nordstrom Rack, I could not say no. Again, it’s an elevated, versatile piece that’s already in heavy wardrobe rotation. Not to mention it too was a steal! Yay!!

And last but not least, I’ve traded in my black sandals for black booties. I love everything about this microsuede pair, mostly because they somehow manage to combine two of this season’s top trends — the sock and the western — into one badass bootie! They look sleek and even a little sexy but are also soooo comfortable. And the kicker? They are part of Target’s amazing Universal Thread Collection and under $40! Needless to say, I also got them in cognac (and might have to add tan…).

This look isn’t revolutionary, just a simple and fun way to take your favorite midi or maxi dress from Summer into Fall. And even beyond. I’m pretty sure you could “shop your closet” this weekend and create your very own version. And if you do need to add a cool leather jacket or these booties, you definitely won’t break the bank!

Dress: (WhoWhatWearxTarget, old) But I’m loving this, this and this from the current collection. All three are under $35!!!

Jacket: (Cole Haan, low stock) More great, designer-quality CH options here, here and here. All at savings of 40% – 50%!

Booties: (Universal Thread, also in Cognac and Tan!) If you’re after a splurge, these are amazing.

    1. Thanks, KMG. You might say I’m obsessed with boots, especially these super chic and affordable ones from Universal Thread. And super comfy, too!
