Getaway Glam

Summer is the season for getaways, right? Even if it’s to the stunning roof deck atop your apartment building. But more on that later. First, let’s focus on this floral-print top and skirt that together create a maxi dress effect, with each piece upping its fashion potential when paired with other pieces. Meaning you just might need to pack up a look like this, too!

I know I’m not the first to discover H & M’s Conscious Collection, but if it’s new to you you’re going to love it! This top and maxi skirt are part of the brand’s move towards greater transparency about how and where their products are made, as well as their goal of using 100% recycled or sustainably sourced materials by 2030. Great style that does good things is a win win for this fashionista.

While “bare-ish” in the back, I felt pretty comfortable with this not-too-sheer, floral-print top — especially when wearing this backless bra (also “unseen” in this post). This airy chiffon top is made from recycled polyester. I love all the details: dropped shoulders, 3/4 length sleeves, and bow tied back. Of course, it’s perfectly matched to the skirt, but how great would it look with so many other summer pant or skirt options. White jeans? Denim mini? Cropped chinos? Think you get the idea…

The high-waisted (yay!) maxi skirt is made from a Tencel lyocell and viscose blend that feels wonderful and resists wrinkles. You can wear it buttoned to the front as I am here or to the side or back (more versatility). When I take this along with me to Martha’s Vineyard later this summer, I’m also going to pack a white tank or tee to wear with it. If not a few other combinations, too.

Even though we shot this post in the city, I went with breezy, beachy accessories — a bead-encrusted clutch, some shell bracelets, and chic cognac leather slides. Again, each of these would be a versatile piece to pack for your next summer getaway as well.

I love living in Jersey City, but I especially love the amenities Hamilton House offers (also shared with our sister building, 372 9th). Not the least of which is our expansive roof deck that features loads of beautiful plantings, plenty of spots to sit/sun/eat (shoot a post!), multiple grills, an outdoor shower, fireplace and even a pizza oven. All of which makes getting away to our roof feel like the perfect getaway. Cheers to that!

Top: (H&M, out of stock online but I have seen in a few stores) Also love this and this from the collection. And this, this and this (pair with this skirt for a similar vibe!). All are currently available in lots of sizes.

Skirt: (H&M, out of stock, same as above) But you can still scoop up this adorable jumpsuit and these pants (match to 2nd top alternative above).

Bag: (Zara) Also love this splurge and this stylish steal.

Bracelets: (Amazon) And how about this fun set?

Sandals: (Chloe, old) Similar (and more affordable!) here (lots of colors), here and here.
