Yay, summer is really, truly, finally here. And it’s about time. And time to break out the sundresses and bring on the Birkies, because it wouldn’t be summer without them.
To be clear, this is not a post advocating drinking, but these painted doors were too perfect a backdrop to resist. Now honesty…yaasss. So honestly, to talk about this look I have to start at the bottom and work my way up. And that means the ugly shoe that calls itself Birkenstock. If you follow me regularly, you’ve seen me wearing them here, here, and here.
I am not an advocate of cults. Except when it comes to Birkenstock! If you can believe it, this brand now sells over 25 million pairs a year!! So I am definitely not the only one obsessed with their supreme comfort and almost anti-cool style. Birks are simply the best. You can stroll around in them with a fresh pedicure in the summer, and when temps get cool just put on a pair of colorful wool socks and you’re good to go — especially if they are the sheepskin version as seen here.
Not to mention, these “ugly” shoes have helped me keep going (for reals!) when I’ve been battling sciatica and neuromas. And as I say, once you go “ugly,” you don’t go back!
Now for this dress. Isn’t eyelet the one easy, breezy fabric that just defines summer? In the best retro, feminine possible way, too. Let’s just say I am a big fan, as you can see from this and this post. This exact style is old out, but I’ve linked some covetable options below.
For accessories, you’ve seen this adorable rattan bag in this post. It’s the perfect summer bag, because it actually holds quite a bit but looks oh-so-go-with-the-flow. And these beaded and feathered bird earrings? Wow, they truly are one of a kind, and I feel so special whenever I wear them. Last but by no means least is my rainbow bee watch! LOVE!! Let’s just say, the bee is my spirit animal. And maybe it should be yours, too. And with June being Pride month, the rainbow is right on.
If I can be honest, this is an easy look that whether you actually buy my recos or not, should make for some fun, fresh summer wardrobe inspiration.
And just so you know (because so many have asked!) I use affiliate links in my posts. They don’t cost you more (and I try to feature sales whenever I can!), but when you purchase via a click through my blog I do earn a small commission. And Google or Amazon don’t! So in advance…thank you!!!
Hope you had a lovely weekend. We did. Our youngest son arrived on a red-eye from LA today, our middle arrives from LA on Tuesday, and then our oldest joins us from Bushwick (Brooklyn) and we all head up to our ADK cabin for a long family weekend. Can’t wait! xoxomp
