Little Black Dress…Not

Everyone needs a go-to LBD…or two! What’s fun about this look is that it’s actually two separate pieces that create the effect of a versatile summer dress, BUT each piece can go it alone. Imagine this one shoulder ruffle top with your favorite pair of white or blue jeans. And this eyelet skirt with a white or even neon (!) tank now and a chunky cotton sweater come Fall. Think you get where I’m going. When I shop I’m always on the hunt for something new and different, but also something that will be an “ADD” to other pieces that I already own.

Unless you’ve been in Borneo without wifi, you must know that everyone in the Blogosphere and Instagram has been going bananas about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and Amazon Prime Day. Call me a refusenik, but it almost made me NOT want to shop. Especially since we may be downsizing once again and I will have to “Marie Kondo” my wardrobe for sure.
Anyway, this whole look was pretty much a steal (Thank you, H & M! You are back on your game!!) except for these amazing suede flower-detailed Chloe See espadrilles. But that’s OK, because I have happy feet every time I wear them. And as a “tall” woman, they are not the towering wedge espadrille sandals that all those adorable petite bloggers out there look so good in. I need to make tracks when I need too, so this is my kind of city shoe. Not to mention, that since they’re suede, they will look great well into Fall.
This top is just so cute. I also have it a blue-and-white-stripe version as seen in this post. And it comes in so many other “get ’em” options, too. This eyelet skirt is a classic in every way — midi length, a flattering gathered silhouette, cute eyelet detailing, and can’t-go-wrong black. How fun will it be come October with a sweater and black booties!
As for accessories, I am now a die hard fan of hats, especially in the Summer. They shade you from the sun and they cover up a bad hair day like nobody’s business. And let’s talk about this straw bag. I love the black-and-natural straw pattern, the fun round shape, not to mention it fits my laptop!

On another note, how are you feeling about the Blog? Do you want more Beauty posts? Health? DIY and Design? Want more peeks into my Adirondack vibe? I have some new and different posts planned, but I’d love to hear what you’d like to see and read. Let me know!

Top: (H&M), also in so many cute colors/patterns here , here, here and here.

Skirt: (H&M, almost sold out) but similar here and here.

Have to give a shout-out to our shoot location, Madame Claude Bis, one of my favorite JC spots. Super cool and authentic French vibe, great bar (and bartenders!), must-eat menu, and Gypsy Jazz every Tuesday and Thursday night.

      1. Thanks, Nora! Downsizing not a done deal, just wondering about life in a 2 bedroom. Will keep you posted!

  1. A perfectly put-together outfit with separates that will work beautifully in many other ways. Love the one-shoulder top in various colors. That will instantly bring a dash of fresh to any look this summer. And the big round bag brings smiles! Thanks for the great ideas.
