Python Power Dressing

Fashion’s passion for anything animal print is showing no signs of slowing down. From leopard to tiger to zebra to snake, there’s a species (or two or…) for you. I love them all. But I’m particularly partial to snake at the moment, and this silky snakeprint blouse checked all the boxes.

Business casual has gotten so casual that I pretty much live in jeans. For a big meeting with clients, I might up my game to black jeans, heels and a nice top like this snakeprint one! Which by the way I’m not sure if it’s actually python…or cobra or rattler or Cleopatra’s asp? No matter. While the power dressing of my early career days (and maybe yours) has transitioned into something much more laid back, it’s fun to step out in something a little more polished, and dare I say, grown up.

This outfit does just that. I LOVE this blouse. It’s got all the high-end details you want — ruffled collar and cuffs, tie neckline that you can wear as you choose, and an amazing snake print that straddles green and beige. It’s a color combo that flatters every skintone. Unless you’re a snake, I guess…

For me, this snakeprint top is going to be making many appearances from Spring to Summer. With black, blue and white jeans. And how about a white skirt? My advice? Don’t let this super affordable, high style separate slither away!

Have you joined the paperbag pants world tour? I was hesitant, but these olive green paperbag pants convinced me to make the leap. Again they have lots of nicely finished details like pleating and button-accented pockets. I could see them with a statement tee and sneaks or a sexy black top and strappy sandals. They’re easy on the eyes, your figure, and your budget!

I posted Everlane’s The Day Heel here, and that was almost 2 years ago. Guess what? These pumps are still a wardrobe standout, and I can’t count how may times I’ve worn them. They go with anything and everything! And they are soooo comfortable. If you haven’t checked out Everlane, you must!

Last but not least, this metallic camera bag reminded me of the much more expensive Marc Jacobs version that has every fashionista looking for her gifted delivery. I looked to Topshop instead, and they did not disappoint.

One final note, I have been loving H&M of late and just want to be clear that this is NOT a sponsored post. They are just on their game! There has also been a lot of backlash social chatter about “fast fashion” of late. And again, in this arena H&M has upped their game. They are helping to “close the loop” on fashion by encouraging their customers to recycle their unwanted clothes and textiles. For every bag you bring to the store, you will receive 15% off your next purchase. Clothing that can be worn again is marketed as second hand goods (REWEAR), textiles that are no longer suitable to wear are converted into other products, such as “remake collections” or cleaning cloths (REUSE), and textiles that can’t be reused get a second chance as textile fibers or are used to manufacture products such as damping and insulating materials for the auto industry (RECYCLE). 1. A very versatile and stylish blouse AND it looks wonderful with the paper-bag pants. I didn’t know that H&M has such a responsible program for clothing reuse. That’s great news.

    1. Thanks, Kathy. The blouse is everything. So on trend, so versatile, and so easy on the wallet. I too had no idea about the extent of H&M’s garment collecting program. Good news for everyone.
