‘Tis the season for sparkly brights, and while I didn’t specifically buy this metallic striped sweater for the weeks ahead, it has such a fun holiday vibe. I’ve styled it on the more casual side for this post, but I’ve got big plans for dressing it up in the days (and months) ahead. We’ll be spending the holidays in Los Angeles, and I think it’s going to look amazing with a pair of white jeans and black patent sandals. That might even be my Christmas Day outfit!
The bulk of my sweater collection is made up of a palette of black, white, grey and beige. In fact, I sometimes have to remind myself that I already have a grey (or black or white or…) turtleneck/cardigan/crewneck, before I buy another one. I guess you could call it my color comfort zone.
But this brightly striped sweater caught my eye while I was perusing Rent The Runway. I read the reviews, looked at subscriber’s pics, and put it in my cart. Only to leave it there for several days. But I couldn’t stop thinking about how fun it would be to wear. And how unexpected and figure-flattering the vertical stripes would be — not just for me but for anyone. One of the perks of RTR, is that you can “test drive” your selections without having to make a permanent commitment. Guess what? It was pretty special, so I made it mine at a pretty great discount (another RTR perk).
Because this sweater is so colorful, I paired it with my favorite black jeans (most recently seen here) and favorite “little black bag.” But I did go all-out with the rest of my accessories: rainbow-bright statement earrings (seen here), this amazing necklace and luxe leather sneakers (seen here and here). You know the expression “too much is never enough?” In this case, that’s about right.
There are so many online gift guides out there, or maybe you’ve already done all your holiday shopping, but just in case I’ve noted below which items I think would make surprising and fun gifts for some of the special people on your list. Or, maybe a gift to yourself!

I love your fun colorful sweater! It looks so cute the way you styled it and I love the idea of wearing it with white jeans. Of course I’m also obsessed with your sneakers. Maybe Santa will bring me a pair ?

Thank you, Jenifer! This colorful sweater is going to see a lot of holiday action, not to mention brightening up some of the gloomy winter days ahead.
And I do hope Santa brings you a pair of these Gucci sneaks! They were a serious splurge but worth every penny. (BTW, Mr. Clean Erasers are the key to keeping them white and bright.) Wishing you the happiest of holidays! xoxomp
