Summer is the season for getaways, right? Even if it’s to the stunning roof deck atop your apartment building. But more on that later. Isn’t this just the toughest time of year to get your fashion on? One day it’s 60s and sunny and the next raining and 40s. I do a big closet changeover twice a year, but I’ve been holding off. So my best advice for this crazy, unpredictable time of year is…accessories!
Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away…I stepped out of my fashion comfort zone. Well, really, just in Jersey City. I had been thinking about how to let these feather-trimmed pajama pants finally take flight. An impulse purchase, they had languished in my closet for over a year. Crazy, I know. When I spotted this amazing street art on my way home from the Path train, I knew the time and place were perfect. And it was worth the wait. Now, I’ve got big plans for my feathery fashion piece, as well as this cozy hooded sweater, glitter sneakers, and beaded bucket bag.
In case you haven’t noticed, cowboy boots are having a fashion moment. Pardon the pun, but I was kicking myself for consigning a great pair last year until I discovered Target’s new Universal Thread line and these amazing, and amazingly, affordable pair of snakeskin cowboy booties. Best of all, they combine two of Fall’s top trends — cowboy boots with an animal pattern. These booties definitely inspired my overall look from the bottom up, but I have big plans to put them through their paces in lots of other ways.
Apparently all the cool girls in Copenhagen have leopard print at the top of their Fall 2018 fashion lists. And we all know my love for leopard knows no bounds. So does that make me cool? Whether it’s yes or no, sometimes it’s best to tone this wild side down a bit. And nothing does that better or more beautifully than a well-tailored (and well-priced!) blazer and pants.
