It may be Spring, but we just had another snowstorm and kids are playing in the park in snowsuits! Oh April, why so cruel? We want to pack away those turtlenecks and down jackets and get pedicures and wear florals, but you are killing our fashion agenda! So if I can’t beat you, I will join you. I’m writing this post from our cabin up in the Adirondacks, where they had a foot and and a half of snow two days ago. So as wintery as these pics make Jersey City look, it’s truly a winter wonderland up here. (I will be shooting some ADK posts over the holiday break so stay tuned for those.) Whether I’m dressing for a blog shoot or my “day job” most of my outfits start with a key piece that inspires the rest of the look. I started with this coat but looking at these pics now I’m newly inspired by every single piece. And plan to put them all into heavy wardrobe rotation.
Over 50 and Over-The-Knee Boots? Yes, you can! The OTK Boot has become an accessory that should find its place into every wardrobe — no matter your personal style or age. Since the trend took hold, I’ve added 4 pairs to my wardrobe. My oldest pair is up at our cabin, while the other 3 are in regular rotation in my fall/winter JC/NYC wardrobe. All are Stuart Weitzman, who’s the King of the OTK Boot as far as I’m concerned. While his boots (and shoes) are not cheap, they truly are investment dressing. If well maintained with water/stain protector and professional cleaning and repair, you will have them for many (many!) years to come.
