It’s finally Fall y’all, and that means colors like merlot (or burgundy or pinot) and mustard (um…don’t have a snappy variation on that) are on the fashion menu. And I think they are all deliciously beautiful. This look mixes ruffles high and low, not to mention my attempt at “ruffling” my hair. But there you go, sometimes you just have to go for it!
I sometimes worry about “shopping my closet,” especially if it’s about trends of the season. But that’s kind of the secret of trends. They really aren’t just of the moment. They’re sparks to inspire your wardrobe. And if you add them,,. surprise, they just keep going. I look for special details like the ruffled, frayed hem of these black velvet jeans or unusual color combos like burgundy and mustard. You don’t have to pair them as I have — just know they go really well together.
For this look, I started with these fabulous, stop-me-in-my-tracks black velvet (high waist!) jeans. I literally was stopped while walking Bowie…by a millennial (!)…to tell me she LOVED my outfit. Starting with the jeans, for sure. They are so fun and fabulous. Yes, you have to be ready to rock them. But you can! I just loved the colors and vintage feel of this bomber. Perfect when paired with this kinda classic burgundy silk blouse. Loving my mustard suede tote, too. And the booties? Cheers to burgundy patent!
We took these photos at one of of our favorite JC places, White Star. Great on-tap beer selection and awesome burgers. Oh…and bacon mac and cheese. Perfect fall dish. Yum.
