Dressing Up For Spring

Finally the forecast is looking brighter and warmer. Even so, I haven’t yet undertaken my closet switch from fall/winter to spring/summer. In the meantime, I’ve still got a fave pair of booties to slip on. They’re oldies but goodies, and a perfect footwear choice to pair with this cute new (very affordable!) dress.

Why do we love wearing dresses? Because it’s one-stop styling that makes you look polished and put together — even if you’re not feeling that way. Dresses make a statement of femininity and female power. Some of my most-loved dress brands are LoveShackFancy, Zimmerman, Ganni, and Ulla Johnson. But I don’t always love their prices. That’s where Target’s A New Day collection comes in with pretty, well-designed silhouettes for a full range of sizes. In fact, I’ve found Target to be one of the most size-inclusive shopping options out there. And this puff-sleeve crepe midi dress is a perfect example of just that. Styled with a deep V-neckline and back pleat, it’s a flattering look for every body type. And it’s an affordable and fun way to freshen up your spring wardrobe.

For this shoot, it was chilly enough to pair the dress with black booties and a puff-sleeved black jean jacket (also super affordable). For finishing touches, I reached for this cute and colorful designer bag (scored at a fabulous price, same brand here), a chunky beaded necklace, and the floral wristlet I wore as Mother-of-the-Bride. If you’re sensing a penchant for keeping special pieces “special” by actually wearing them you are spot on. Once it finally warms up for good, all I’ll have to do is swap in a pair of black sandals, and I’m set.

Dress: (A New Day @ Target, in four pretty patterns and sizes XS-4X, and just $35!)

Jacket: (Gap, limited sizes, on sale with extra 40% off at checkout) If they’re out of your size, this version is just as great — all sizes available for Petite/Regular/Tall, only $44, plus an extra 40% off at checkout. Pretty sweet!

Boots: (Aquatalia, old) Similar here (50% off), here and here.

Bag: (Ganni, sold out) Liking this (55% off), this (quilted and bright) and this (cool shape).

Necklace: (old) Great alternatives here, here, and here.

Wristlet: (one of a kind) Love this (5 colors, super deal!), this and this.

  1. I love a day into cocktail dress. I love the hemline, so nicely paired with the higher boots of the season. I absolutely love this look for now and for as long as the weird weather lasts!
