Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Sequins may look like simple little discs, but they bring instant glamour to any piece of clothing they adorn. This A-line dress is such a fun combination of sleek and sparkly. It is a little on the short side, so I paired it with opaque black tights that gave me the confidence to strut my stuff.

One caveat about this dress…I am 5′ 8″ so on the taller side. I bought my usual size Small, but I ended up returning it for a Medium. A Medium gave me a little more swing and a little more length.  BTW, H&M has a splendid selection of everything sequined if you’re in the market for some added wardrobe sparkle.

One of the great things about sequins is that while they can obviously be dressed up, they can just as easily be dressed down and paired with something more casual. When pulling together this look, I went with this limited-edition, vintage-inspired unisex chore jacket. Made from 100% organic cotton, it’s a boxy cut that’s detailed with patch pockets, embroidery and playful artwork.

The finishing touches? My well-loved Valentino Rockstuds — eight years old but looking just as fresh and edgy as ever. I do think lots of other fun footwear could work. The bag is from Aupen, a new Singapore-based brand for me and apparently one of Taylor Swift’s favorites. I love its little logo bean charm and braided handle. And it definitely stands out as a modern statement piece.

For this post, I included a little video that really showcases the dress. Enjoy!

Dress: (H&M, 5 colors but limited sizes) Also love this short-sleeve shift dress, this bowknot blouse, and this skirt (under $15!).

Jacket: (Dinner Service NY, add your name to the waitlist) If you can’t wait or want something more affordable, I love this, this and this.

Bag: (Aupen) This bag is a little pricey and I did buy it through an introductory sale, so I’m sharing more affordable options here and here (a steal!).

Shoes: (Valentino, old) Love these cute studded Mary Janes (42% off) and these star-studded booties (under $95).
