City Cat

Do you remember these elevated sweat pants from this post? I hope so. Either way, they were just too good not to wear again. But this time, in a dressier look. Of course with today’s arctic temps, all of this would be under a heavy duty puffer jacket!

Fall and winter fashion is typically dominated by solids in rich, classic neutrals like camel, grey, burgundy and chocolate brown — all shades that I really do love. But animal prints are also having a moment, specifically variations on leopard.

I think of leopard as an evergreen print that can add a regal touch, or even a rebellious one, to your outfit.  These statement spots go a long way to punching up a look built on more subtle solids — especially when you’re shopping your closet. These slides are 3+ years old!

I’d recommend you start by adding leopard in strategically — a pair of shoes, a hat, gloves. You get the idea. And because leopard has literally been in (and sometimes out) of fashion for decades and decades, if you tire of a piece just put it away for a year or two. And you’ll rediscover the power of this pattern once again.

Are you ready to unleash a little animal instinct in your wardrobe?

Sweater: (H&M, old, so love the beaded bows!) Current alternatives here (goldtone buttons!), here (fabulously fuzzy) and here (have this one too!).

Sweats: (H&M, old) Similar here ($26 and lots of colors!) and here (easy wide leg silhouette).

Bag: (Zara, sold out) Like this, this and this.

Slides: (Loffler Randall, as seen in this post, but love these) Also these and these.
