Come Fly With Me

The feather-trimmed shirt I featured in my last post was so fabulous that I had to get it in white as well. Because every wardrobe needs a good white shirt or two, this wasn’t an excessive splurge. I will resell or donate an older version and let this one add a fresh flourish to everything from the corduroy jeans I teamed it up with here to dark denims or a midi skirt. I think the cuffs look so eye-catching fluffing out from the blazer, too.

Fall temps in the metro NY/NJ area are mostly moderate, hovering in the high 60s, so that makes layering textures, patterns and colors the best way to dress. They don’t call it sweater weather for nothing. But I’m so happy I can still get away without wearing socks!

While this season’s feathery fashions give a not to boudoir glam, they also offer options that are colorful, tailored, even casual. Wardrobe options include plumed shoes (here and here), party perfect pants (here), fanciful tops (here and here), and of course some dramatic dresses (this!), too.

How are you feeling about feathers this Fall? Let me know!

Shirt: (J. Crew) (Also in Sunkissed Coral, Pink, Navy and my last post’s Pale Seascape.)

Jacket: (L’Agence, a covetable brand of refreshed classics that embody the California lifestyle with a French attitude. I snagged my steeply-discounted blazer from Nordstrom Rack last year, but here’s a new option and a really well-priced alternative.

Corduroy Bootcut Jeans: (J. Crew) (3 collectable colors in Classic, Petite and Tall.)

Bag: (Demellier London, where you’ll find superbly designed handbags that are sustainably sourced, ethically crafted in Spain and Italy, and for every piece sold the brand funds vaccines and treatments aimed to save the life of a child in need.)

Slides: (Loeffler Randall, old) Super chic alternatives here(50% off), here (under $100) and here (washable!).

  1. Feathery fashion? A touch of chic whimsy for a fabulous fall! Just what we need after the most stifling of summers!
