Hamilton Park, our JC neighborhood, is the perfect urban mix of charming and scruffy. Something I think you can’t miss from these pics. It reminds me of growing up in Greenwich Village in the 60s/70s or living in Brooklyn in the 80s/90s. Some streets are completely rehabbed, others sport vacant lots. On the weekends we love wandering around and discovering new shops, restaurants and more. And when we set off on one of our jaunts we could easily walk 3 or more miles. So…comfort is key. But not at the expense of having a little fashion fun.
At first glance, this outfit is pretty much your basic (grey) sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers. But then, it’s really not. Chalk it up to my years as a copywriter, but I do love “statement” clothing. So this “overdressed” version was too cute to pass up. Not to mention it’s super comfy and cozy. I paired it with black skinnies with a hint of sparkle thanks to onyx-and-silver studded knee patches. (I also cut off the hem for the frayed edge I’m loving these days.) To finish, I tied one of my Mom’s vintage Hermes scarves around my neck (mais oui!) and grabbed my Bien Fait tote from Madewell — another play on (French) words! It’s the perfect size to hold my phone, wallet and anything I just might discover and need to bring home.
Sweatshirt: (Zara, old) but similar (and similarly cheeky) here and here
Jeans: (Current/Elliott, old) but like these and these
Scarf: (Vintage Hermes) and you could get lost in their site or pick up this super cute Kate Spade one
Sneakers: Adidas Superstar and love these statement ones from Zara
Bag: Madewell, just $5 (plus 30% 0ff with code GOODBUY!)

Great post! Love the mix of clothing and the neighborhood.
Thanks, Christa. Happy to have another urban wanderer’s like!
