So Long Summer 2016: Caught in the Crosswalk

September seems to be the month that’s caught between Summer and Fall. Jersey City is looking at sunny and a high of 97 on Thursday, while up in the Adirondacks (where we have our cabin) nighttime temps are dropping below 50. Magazines, blogs and stores are filled with cozy sweaters and stylish boots, but the AC’s still on! All of which can make getting dressed a challenge. But we’re up for it.

Black and White is a combination that works any day, all year. Here I paired a Carine Roitfeld for Uniqlo black tee with an easy, breezy black-and-white striped skirt. It’s a simple, pull-on silhouette that’s super versatile. I know I’m showing a bit of leg (!), but this skirt is definitely coming back this fall with black tights and booties. For now, I’m loving my tried-and-true Converse One Stars. They are graphic and comfy. And I always have my jean jacket at the ready. It’s an essential that goes with everything. To change it up I like to add different combinations of pins. These fun ones are from the Whitney Museum Shop. Given Election Day is right around the corner, their message is, perhaps, a bit provocative. And timely.

Tee: (Carine Roitfeld for Uniqlo 2015 but she’s coming back with a new collection this fall!) but I’d love this one // or this one

Skirt: Lovers & Friends //  similar here  // and here

Jean Jacket: (vintage Earl Jeans) // but I’d love this one // or this

Shoes: (old Converse for Target, sadly no longer carried) // but the original High Top here // and an all-new version here

Accessories: Sunglasses  // Necklace similar here // Skull Ring // Pins (mine, only available at the Whitney Museum Store) but love these
