Camo Chameleon

Can I just say that this jacket is EVERYTHING? I can’t claim dibs on spotting it first though. Karima Hunter, the uber stylish voice behind A Note on Style, did in this post. Of course, I clicked right through and pretty much had to have it. You may remember that I recently went on a 40-day NO SHOPPING hiatus but am now back in wardrobe refresh mode, albeit with a stricter focus. So anything I’m buying from here on out has to really earn its place in my closet, and this reversible, 2-in-1 jacket sits atop the list.

How many ways do I love this jacket? Its olive/khaki hue makes it a neutral that goes with any color palette, from light to to dark. The same goes for its reverse camo side. Its structured silhouette adds a touch of polish versus slouch. And the details! Belt, flap pockets, zippers (camo side) and flattering length mean this field jacket looks great and a lot more expensive than it is. You may remember this reversible jacket from my winter looks. Believe me, that jacket was another genius wardrobe addition that I wore again. And again. And I have no doubt this jacket, or I should say Jacket + Jacket, is going to follow suit.

For the rest of my look, I paired a v-neck tee from Universal Thread, a fun new line from Target. This pocket tee is so great, and such a great deal, that I stocked up on it in black, white and grey too. Fringe jeans are still on the denim radar and so fun to wear. For accessories, I kept it pretty simple: aviator sunnies (always a classic), this adorable canvas bucket bag (love the tortoise handles), and suede sandals that I dressed up with a little DIY jewel accent (saved from old Pradas). My Raggedy Ann necklace was my Mom’s and handmade in Nicaragua for her when she lived there as a child.

Here’s a fun little video that Kristin (guest photog) created to show this jacket in action:

We ended this shoot with lunch at Hamilton Inn, one of my favorite neighborhood spots. Great food, service and ambiance. I’m a huge fan of their Grain Bowl, which I actually riffed on in this post. If you’re in JC for lunch, brunch, happy hour or dinner, it’s not to be missed!

Bag: (Urban Outfitters) Also love this, this and this (splurge!).

Sandals: (old, Zara) but would also wear these and these (on sale!).

Sunglasses: (Mosely Tribes Eyewear) Similar here and here.
