OK, so for a hot minute it felt like Spring might have sprung. Then March slammed us with our 3rd (!!!) Nor’easter in 10 days. But even so, Spring up here is never rompers and sandals. It’s a slow transition from down to denim, from booties to sandals, from turtlenecks to tees. So we adapt. And wear lighter layers when we can, but double down on the boots when we need to. And after often wearing head-to-toe black, color — like these shades of green — feels fresh and fun. Looking at these pics, I just realized this could be my St. Patrick’s Day outfit! Weather permitting, of course.
So for that brief snow-free moment, we hit the streets and shot this post with some Shop My Closet favorites that haven’t made it to the blog yet. For this post, I’m starting from the bottom up. As in these BOOTS. They are the perfect example of my “shop the end of season sale” tactic. Sure, these awesome Tory Buch OTK boots would be sold out in black, but green suede? Score. And I think they are even more special. Love the bow tie detail on the back of the heel. And that block heel is so comfy to walk in. For hours. And I can rock them into April, for sure.
So you guys already know about my obsession with Madewell jeans. And yes, that’s what I’m wearing. Again. What can I say? They are pretty darn perfect. Just the right blend of 100% cotton and a touch of stretch, plus a high waist. (Ah….) This ruffled white shirt is from the JW Anderson collection for Uniqlo that was an almost instant sell-out. But the message here is ruffles, whether on the placket or your sleeves. Flutter away! My cable cape was just an impulse Target purchase, because Target (thank you!) makes impulse purchases so easy, so fun, so affordable. (I have a feeling this cape might migrate up to our cabin for Spring into Summer.)
Last but not least…my beret. Bought on inspiration from Atlantic-Pacific. I think Blair has one in every color. I only have this olive green one, but according to the fashion radar I may have to add a few colors.
If you’re living somewhere that’s already warming up, I’m so jealous. We’re going to be going back and forth between blustery and balmy for weeks to come. I’m trying to figure out when I have to get that pedicure and start letting my toes out. Until then…I’ll balance the cozy with the chic.

Tip: Buy ScotchGuard spray at WALMART for all your boots and shoes
Good tip. I have been using a great leather/suede protector from The Leather Spa.
Love the look! Very “Irish”, as if you are just coming in from stroll on the moor. And the link to the various capes / ruanas at Neiman Marcus Last Call. Thanks!
You’re welcome! And thank you!!
