So here’s one last look at dressing up a Summer maxi dress and taking it straight into Fall. Confession: I bought this lovely violet maxi to wear to a wedding but decided to go with a something else when the weather turned cool (and I hadn’t unpacked this sweater or booties!). If you have an early Fall wedding, big party or even special date night planned, I think this outfit would be perfect. And, it combines key fashion trends that show no sign of cooling off — the midi or maxi dress, violet/lavender/lilac, a chunky knit sweater and white booties.
I was disappointed to not wear this dress as planned but delighted when I figured out how to wear it after all. The violet color really is so pretty, but a midi or maxi dress in a jewel or bright tone would also make quite a statement. I so like that the silhouette is simple yet sophisticated — gathered v-neckline, flutter sleeves and a front slit that lets you show off those white booties but not too much else. At the last minute, I added this rhinestone pin, because who doesn’t like a little sparkle!
You might remember this chunky cardi from this post. I LOVE it and am so happy it’s gotten cool enough to break it out once again. It’s sold out in this creamy white, but I’ve also linked some chunky new faves below. My lucite clutch made its debut in the same My Favorite Color is Glitter post after a little DIY action courtesy of Kate Spade (scroll through post for how-to). It was a fun way to customize a cute clutch and elevate it to a statement (literally!) one.
Last, but definitely not least, are my wanna-wear-em-all-the-time white booties. These were a bit of an investment purchase, but as you can see from this, this and this post, they are so chic and versatile. Not to mention so comfortable. They will be in heavy rotation this Fall and Winter, too.
If you’ve got a special event coming up in the weeks ahead and weather permits, why not try your own spin on this Frock Around the Clock look? And adding a chunky knit and/or white booties to your current wardrobe could be just the refresh you’ve been looking for.
