How does my garden grow?

With wildflowers in all their colorful and unruly glory! Amidst the ongoing Coronavirus Crisis, it hasn’t been lost on me that I am blessed to have this idyllic hideaway to escape to. Chris and I have stayed healthy thus far, even going back and forth between our cabin and our Jersey City apartment, and I really (really!) don’t want to get sick now. That’s why I’ve been spending most of my time up in the Adirondacks, where it’s wild and beautiful and much easier to practice social distancing while still gathering with friends who are doing the same. Not to mention hiking on trails and walking in the woods or on quiet roads without crowds of people. I carry my mask along and wear it as soon as I approach anyone else. I can breathe up here. And I can smell the flowers!

Flower Print Dress

To be honest, I haven’t been up to posting anything “frivolously” fashion for months, but the woman-owned brand behind this dress is just so cool that I think I might be rediscovering my style mojo again. Not to mention it’s a sale steal. More deets to follow. But first this dress.

This citrusy- orange flower print dress is designed by Faithfull The Brand — the creation of two globe-trotters with a love for travel and a vision to inspire women around the world to live well-traveled and inspiring lives. Together, these designers have conceived and created a label for their customers, who just like themselves, desire to feel easily and comfortably chic wherever life finds them. Especially since we can only dream of traveling these days.

The other thing I love about Faithfull The Brand is that they are an ethical business at their core. With production based in Bali, Indonesia, they are dedicated to building life-long relationships with the local communities they support and are able to encourage local artisans to create beautiful handmade products.

And this dress is a dream! It’s easy fitting while fitting in all the right places. I love the fun floral pattern, too. It’s a bit dressy for my day-to-day Adirondack life (ha ha), but I so love it. I’m linking it below, along with several other options. And I will be wearing it every chance I get this summer…and beyond.

All about the Accessories

For this post, I grabbed my Jack Rogers wedges so I could walk on grass (and rocks!) without breaking an ankle. Love the nude leather hue. My beaded and feathered earrings were originally posted here. These fantastical birds were created by the Yoruba tribe and are truly one of a kind. And how about this personalized rainbow bracelet! I designed mine for Pride month, but who says no to a rainbow any time? My pom-pom straw bag is a DIY from this earlier post. All of which just goes to show, you can and should, shop your closet. And a hot glue gun could be your next best friend.

Is Silver the New Blonde?

Last, but holy moly not least, let’s talk about my hair. It’s silver! As my grey roots started growing in in March, I was basically asking myself WTF should I do?!? Salons were obviously not an option, and I was not going to attempt blond highlights on my own. Enter Overtone. It’s a naturally pigmented conditioner that you can wash in in less than 15 minutes in (or out of) your shower. I ordered Pastel Silver (though there are Blonde options), and I’m not gonna lie, I was afraid to try it. But this vegan and cruelty-free formula that’s also free of sulfates, parabens and ammonia, is suitable for all hair types, and is virtually fool-proof for anyone. So for now I’m loving the silver life! What do you think?

Dress: Faithfull The Brand. (Fits TTS — I am wearing a Small.) Also love this, this and this. All under $200 or better yet on sale!

Shoes: Jack Rogers (old but here is this year’s version). Also love this and this pair.

Earrings: St. Frank (no longer available) but similarly fabulous here and here (both super affordable!)

Bracelet: Accessory Concierge. Liking this and this, too.

Bag: (DIY) Also love this (in blue too!), this and this.

Hair: Overtone Pastel Silver (lots of colors to experiment with!)

  3. What a refreshing and beautiful post, MP!
I don’t know what I like more: hair, dress, garden, woods
You look like a silver sylvan nymph … so happy and beautiful!
If you keep this color, it will be a lot easier to care for once your roots come through … I can tell you that much.
Did you and Chris plant those wildflowers or did they grow free?
Love those woods behind the photo of you.
    The dress is so romantic.
    A great romantic summer post!!!

    1. Thanks so much, Regina. We cleared some of our property in front of the house and had a local stonemason build the tiered wall, 95% of the boulders were found on our property. Then we did plant the wildflowers. And now we can’t stop! We’ve got them growing all around the cabin.

Also appreciate your compliments on the hair, especially coming from a Silver Queen like yourself! For now it’s temporary, but we shall see!!

    1. I’ve been wanting to get something by the brand for ages, so I was thrilled to score this dress on major sale.
      It’s even better that it’s a woman-owned brand with a positive message!
