On Cloud Nine

What a difference a year makes. While we still have many people to get vaccinated, the darkest clouds of COVID have lifted, and we can once again go out into our new world. Sure, life is going to be different — we’ll have to be smarter and safer, but we can let some of that overwhelming fear fall away and just have fun. Like shooting this post without wearing a mask. In addition to featuring this amazing Cloud Dress, I could show off my new and improved Invisalign smile (more to come on that). And share spur-of-the-moment inspiration and some laughs with Kristin, my super talented photographer/art director. Talk about being on Cloud Nine!

It was a little chilly on our shoot day, and bare legs felt a little too bare so I decided to wear The Cloud Dress as a duster. It’s one of the gotta-have designs from The Bunny Shops, started by Korri Santillan and Dave Hill as a way to make dresses they want to see in the world. With its swingy shape, Mary Quant-inspired floral print, exaggerated collar, and sweet signature Bunny button at the neck, it’s definitely a traffic stopper. The silky fabric has a touch of stretch, feels wonderful, and really moves with you. And because The Cloud Dress is hand wash and hang dry, I think it would make a great pack-and-go piece.

The story behind the story: I actually met Korri through Instagram, so our friendship though still virtual is also very real. Korri works in fashion running her own business reselling secondhand designer clothing. (I bought the cutest embellished J. Crew sweater from her and have coveted many more beautiful and special pieces.) You can read about her and Dave’s story and check out The Cloud Dress and more at https://thebunnyshops.com/. I’m so excited to share her vision with you. For me, that’s definitely one of perks of being part of our Influencer culture.

The other new standout item of this look are my Love Shack Fancy X Superga sneakers. They were too cute to resist and make me happy every time I wear them. Full disclosure: they are from last year, but there’s a new brand collaboration this year, and I know you’ll find an adorable pair to make your own.

Once the weather gets warm, I love a straw bag. And this pink one is an affordable yet chic way to add a pop of color to your summer wardrobe. It also comes with a golden chain, so you can also wear it as a crossbody.

Everything else is a “shop my closet” find — simple white tank, basic skinny (but not too) white jeans, and these mismatched earrings you’ve seen here and here. A bit of a splurge but so well worth it.

Need to give a shoutout to the amazing wall mural program sponsored by Jersey City. Just a few blocks from our apartment is the most amazing outdoor gallery showcasing so many talented artists. Before I sign off with shopping details, I want to share this very helpful article about post-pandemic anxiety. I don’t know about you, but as Cloud Nine as I have been about being out and about, I’ve also experienced moments of “what if” panic. It’s good to know I’m not alone, and that there are useful coping strategies we can all use to get us through this pretty momentous transition. So check out this link from Katie Couric’s Wake Up Call online newsletter: https://katiecouric.com/covid-19/post-pandemic-anxiety-how-should-you-deal-with-it/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WUC_Saturday&utm_term=all_users

    1. Thanks so much, Regina. It’s been a slow return to shooting for the blog, but it’s been so fun to get back at it. And yes, those earrings are forever faves!
