Spotted in the City

Isn’t this just the toughest time of year to get your fashion on? One day it’s 60s and sunny and the next raining and 40s. I do a big closet changeover twice a year, but I’ve been holding off. So my best advice for this crazy, unpredictable time of year is…accessories!

So first caveat for this post and others going forward…not one of my posts has been gifted or sponsored. That would be great (and disclosed), but so far this blog is on my dime, on my mind. And in keeping with my “less is more” 2019 mantra, I’m freshening up my wardrobe with very select purchases, a focus on accessories. Like this super cute beaded bag!

The drama for my look definitely comes thanks to this flowy, pleated top. Love its hi-lo asymmetric hem. Even as I’m streamlining my wardrobe, I know this is a keeper. I’ve already paired this black tunic top with dark wash jeans and boots (yes, still wearing them!) for a date night last week. And I can’t wait to wear it with white jeans and black sandals. (It’s also lined so you can skip the cami.)

You saw these jeans in this post. They were a sale score and so well worth it, as animal prints show no sign of extinction. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn these leopard print jeans already, not to mention in the months ahead. If you haven’t made the leap yet, I’ve linked a great dupe below.

I first posted my Céline-esque charms here, and it’s not too late to jump on the alphabet bandwagon. For you, or for a gift. And how about this über cool beaded bag? It’s filled with styling possibilities, as it will go with so much. Causal or dressy, city or country. It can also be worn as a crossbody and is big enough to hold the essentials you need it to. I’ve posted these open toe booties before (here). They are old, and at the time I bought them a huge splurge (like $500). But that was more than 10 years ago! And with some shoe repair rehab, they are better than new. I wish I could link them, but I’ve come up with some great open toe bootie alternatives — a versatile shoe option for these wacky weather weeks ahead, wherever you are. And a great excuse to treat yourself to a pedicure.

How about you? What accessories do you have your eye on?

Top: (Zara) Also like this (super simple, super deal!) and this.

Jeans: (Current Elliott, sold out unless you are the teeniest of sizes. Cropped version here and on super sale.) But loving this dupe pair…and their price. (You can fray the hem yourself!)

Alphabet Charms

Bag: (Zara) Love this and this too.

Booties: (old) Similar here and here.

  1. Forget about days, here in Texas we can go from sunny and 60 to 40 and pouring in one hour! That’s why I love the jeans– an easy way to hide those unexpected April showers!
