Closet Classics

While many of the runway looks from this most recent cycle of fashion weeks were pretty over the top (IMHO), I was taken with the high quality, low key chic of both attendees and wannabes. Non-trend trends appear to be having a moment, and as we move from winter to spring, streamlining that wardrobe transition with classic options feels more appealing than ever.

Get Pinked!

I don’t know if it’s coming off Valentine’s Day or hoping the Groundhog is right about an early Spring, but I’m thinking pink theses days. It’s a fun, pretty color that’s the perfect antidote to Winter’s head-to-toe black. But since we’re not out of the cold just yet…pink fleece pullover and a pink beanie are wear now options I’m wanting to add to my wardrobe.

Checking Out

I’m writing this post from our cabin in the Adirondacks, where we are waiting to be plowed out from under 18 inches of snow. And thinking how handy it would be to have this cozy checked jacket up here. With temps hovering around zero, I could even cuddle up in it indoors! It’s seriously that cold!! But as you can see, this checked jacket looks equally at home in the big city.

Sweater Goals

When we head up to our cabin in the Adirondacks, we’re headed to a more peaceful place, a more peaceful pace. Pretty much the opposite of our city lifestyle. Instead, like everyone who loves it up in the North Country, we’re focused on being outdoors and appreciating the outdoors. The crisp, fresh air, the breathtaking mountains, acres of forest, pristine lakes and streams, night skies filled with stars. No need to dress up, just dress for the weather!

Sneaking Through September

So here we are with all the fickleness that is September. Last weekend was rainy and chilly, now we’re in the midst of a hot, humid depression thanks to Florence. (Praying for our friends in SC, NC, VA!) After NYFW, I’m sure your Inboxes (like mine) are full of emails about what to buy NOW. But it’s kind of hard, if not crazy, to start loading up on sweaters, boots and coats when the weather is not going to cooperate. For weeks, if not for the next month or two. On that note, I’m focusing this post on a super fun pair of sneakers from a brand I recently discovered. They cover two big pattern trends that show no sign of going away — camo and rainbows. All I can say is…yay! I’m in!!

Faux Real

We shot this post a few weeks back, and I was so excited to feature this fantastic faux fur-trimmed parka (now on sale!). But then Bomb Cyclone blew in, along with arctic temps, and fun fashion flew off the radar. Fortunately “normal” winter weather has returned, and I can put this parka, along with a snappy beret and footwear other than snow boots, into heavy rotation.

Cozy Does It

IMG_1931A few weeks back in February people were actually strolling around in sandals, shorts and tees and dining al fresco. Then March rolled in. It’s gotten chillier by the day, and while I’m dying to break out my favorite new Spring pieces, it’s still too soon to do it from head-to-toe. But…you can mix in the new (long cardigan, pom pom sneakers and white jeans) with cozier layers you already own (turtleneck sweater, cashmere beanie).
