Did you know the advertising slogan “Say It With Flowers” was created for a Mother’s Day campaign by The Florists’ Telegraph Delivery (or FTD) association in…1918! And yet, it somehow still sounds fresh today. I haven’t had any flowers delivered…yet, and it’s absolutely raining buckets here in Jersey City. But if it were a sunny day, I think this floral print maxi dress would be the start of a perfect Mother’s Day look.
This dress was an impulse purchase of sorts, as I had no specific event — or blog shoot — in mind when I bought it. But I just could not resist its “flower powerful” mix of color and pattern. And thanks to Instagram, it sold out in a hot second. That’s the bad news. The good news is it’s from Asos, the UK online retailer that literally has hundreds of amazing floral print maxi dresses at amazingly affordable prices. I’ve linked my top three picks below and am trying my best not to add at least one of them to my wardrobe!
Back to this maxi dress and its details. Literally. Love the figure-skimming silhouette, flutter sleeves, even the two front slits — especially if I ever get a little faux (or real) sun on my winter-pale legs. The one detail I missed when I ordered it was how open the back is! Its skin-baring cut-out presented quite a dilemma in terms of what bra to wear. But I wanted to make this dress work, so I did. With the combination of this backless bra and a lacy bralette that I didn’t mind showing. We’re headed to West Palm Beach next week, so I’m going to bring this maxi dress along and give it a real life test run. What do you think? Would this work for you? Is it too bare? Too young? Too too? Believe me, I’ve asked myself all of the above.
I kept the whimsical mood going with a trio of this Spring’s most wanted accessories. A sequin headband, rainbow crystal earrings and top-handle bag look perfectly playful together but will also add their own signature touch to lots of other looks. Not to mention, they were all very budget-friendly finds.
As for my sneakers, they were a splurge. But when you find studded, hot pink suede Valentino (!!!) sneakers in your size at Nordstrom Rack, you go for it! These are shoes that will dress up or down with ease and elegance for years to come. I’m not going to regret their expense for one minute. Sometimes, a Momma’s just gotta rock it.
On that note, I want to wish every woman out there a Happy Mother’s Day! If you don’t have human children, I know there’s someone (or ones) in your life — a pet, a friend, an aging parent — that you love, nurture, and hopefully don’t worry over too much. xoxomp

Magic. This post will bring on the sun!? Love this entire look.
Happy Mums Day!! My grandfather John Jay Moore the 2nd, had a flower shop in Towanda. He borrowed the slogan ‘ say it with flowers, say it with Moore flowers.’ cheeky!
Oh that is so cute about your grandfather! Love it!!
Big fan of the flow-y dresses and skirts. I’m so happy that they’re hot right now. And you pull this one off so nicely. Hope your mom’s day was lovely!
It’s hard not to be a fan of flowy dresses! I just have to make sure I don’t buy every one I love.
Mom’s Day was quiet as all my boys have flown the nest. Now it’s calls or FTs. Best gift is that
they are all healthy & happy!
