We may all be living in the real world, but from what I hear “Barbie” is the delightful and empowering animated adventure that is this summer’s must-see movie. It’s definitely top of my list. In the meantime, I’m thinking Barbie pink. Like this pretty-in-pink sundress.
Growing up in New York City, the rooftops of our apartment buildings were known as “tar beach,” because many of them were literally covered with tar paper. And that’s where we would work on our tans when we couldn’t get to a real beach. Today, residential developments are all about dreamy amenities like rooftop lawns and pools. If you can’t make it to an actual beach, this kind of getaway is pretty sweet. And with summer temps currently soaring to astronomical heights, we could all use a sundress that’s ready for the city or the beach. Or both.
I don’t typically gravitate to pink as one of “my” colors, but this sundress convinced me to think otherwise. I love that the bodice is fitted, while the skirt is flowy. The cotton eyelet fabric is giving me pure summer style (as you already know!), plus all the little details like ruffled shoulder straps, tiny buttons and more ruffles add up to an irresistibly cool, comfortable, chic silhouette.
I fully embraced beachy Barbie vibes for my accessories, too. A shell bedecked choker, rainbow bright bangles, colorful flip flops and an oversized straw bag with the perfect message were all easy, breezy choices.
Are you thinking Barbie pink this summer?
