Lighten Up!

Finally, summer weather is here. And that means we can break out our whites. As long as you switch up textures, it’s a cool, understated look I love from head-to-toe. For this look, I shopped my closet. Because who doesn’t have a selection of white pieces? You could easily flip this look with a white lace blouse, white jeans, flat white sandals, and an of-the-moment beaded bag. As much as I love the NEW, I’m really trying to be mindful of adding new things to my wardrobe. It’s a good watch-out for all of us!

Chambray All Day

Do you live in jeans? I pretty much do. I recently did a closet cleanse and sent about 10 pairs off to consignment. I’m not missing them, but denim is my (almost) daily go-to. Even for work. Of course it helps that I’m in Advertising but still…So in an effort to break out, not break away, from what’s become a wardrobe habit, I was pretty excited about slipping on this chambray chemise. And I have to say, I LOVED wearing it.

A Few of My Favorite Spring Things

Here in JC and NYC, Mother Nature continues to be ambivalent about Spring. So while Summer is officially only about a month away, we’re still wishing she’d make up her mind and gift us with some steady sunshine and warmer temps. As you might guess, it’s made it pretty tough to break out my new fashion favorites and share them with you all. Until this past Sunday…

Embroidered and Easygoing

From tops to jeans to bags and shoes, anything embroidered is everywhere this spring. I especially love the colorful, bohemian touch it brings to this fantastic and fantastically affordable blouse. I’ve added it to my Adirondack wardrobe, but it would be equally at home and on trend in the big city.

Sleeping Beauty

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope it it was filled with flowers, foot rubs, meals cooked, houses cleaned, diamonds dispensed. OK, now for the bad news. I’m long past it, but Menopause is a time of major hormonal, physical and psychological change for women. Although symptoms may vary, hey hey, there will be symptoms. You’re not nuts if you can’t sleep at night. Or you feel restless. Or hot. Unfortunately, post-menopausal women are less satisfied with their sleep, and as many as 6o% report insomnia symptoms. Including snoring. I always thought we could blame that on our husbands! So what’s a Big Girl to do?

Feeling Kind Of Frida

This simple yet sophisticated off-the-shoulder dress is the only new piece in this look, making it a stunning example of how one fashion find can bring new life to the wardrobe you already have. And when it came to shooting this post, I knew the perfect Jersey City mural to be our backdrop. It was almost as if this spot had been waiting for us.

Camo Chameleon

Can I just say that this jacket is EVERYTHING? I can’t claim dibs on spotting it first though. Karima Hunter, the uber stylish voice behind A Note on Style, did in this post. Of course, I clicked right through and pretty much had to have it. You may remember that I recently went on a 40-day NO SHOPPING hiatus but am now back in wardrobe refresh mode, albeit with a stricter focus. So anything I’m buying from here on out has to really earn its place in my closet, and this reversible, 2-in-1 jacket sits atop the list.

Spring All Stars

Well, it was 80 degrees here in JC on Saturday, and then (surprise! not!!) temps plunged on Sunday. High (ha ha) 30s, rainy, blustery, and basically whaaaaat? The calendar is saying Spring, but our climate is not. I don’t know about you, but it’s wreaking havoc on my Spring wardrobe plans. I have not even gotten my 1st pedicure of the season! This week!! And hopefully that’s not wishful thinking. But in the meantime, we managed to squeeze in a shoot that features some of my favorite Spring things.
