It’s at this point of Winter that I really start dreaming of yellow sunshine, green grass and colorful flowers. But we’ve still got weeks to go before the official start of Spring. So in the meantime, I’m going to try to add some brighter colors and prettier patterns to my everyday uniform of mostly black.

Layer on the Warmth
I’m writing this post up at our Adirondack cabin where we’ve finally achieved double digits temperature-wise. And to think I thought it was chilly when we shot this look! Well, either way, it’s definitely fuzzy coat weather.
Cozy Does It
This time of year I find myself reaching into my closet or shopping the sales for cozy pieces I can mix and match. A crewneck sweater, especially in a fun design, is an easy and affordable way to add some fashion freshness to your wardrobe…and stay warm. Corduroy pants and a faux fur jacket also make the grade.
Be My Valentine
Happy almost Valentine’s Day! When I think of hearts, I think of bright red. But that’s not really my color comfort zone. I prefer the warmth of deeper reds — burgundy, merlot, ruby. And every piece in this look spoke to me — on its own, and all together. So whatever happens tomorrow, you can still be your own Valentine with a little fashion treat!
Think Warm Thoughts
Thirty one days of holiday hoopla kick off tomorrow, and the true meaning behind what we’re celebrating can easily get lost amidst the shopping, working, wrapping, partying, traveling, stressing. But before that happens, or hopefully doesn’t, let’s take a moment to talk about the fashion phenomenon of faux fur. It’s EVERYWHERE. And for good reason. It’s the best of cozy…without the cruelty. I have to say I truly didn’t want to take this coat off once I had it on. Call me weird, but I’d sleep in it if I could. Or at least sneak a nap!
Layer on the Leopard!
Ah yes, our favorite feline continues to stalk the fashion scene. Call me a super fan, but I just can’t quit my love for leopard. Whether you want to layer it on as I’ve done in this look or just spice up your wardrobe with one purr-fect piece, there’s no better time than now to take the leap. I promise you’ll be glad you did.
Leopard Love!
This fashion cat can never get enough of animal prints and embellishments, especially leopard. For me it’s really a neutral, albeit one that can take a tame outfit to wilder territory. For this look, I doubled down on the leopard with two of my new wardrobe loves — this adorable cat-eared hat and tailored jacket. Both are oh-so-cozy. Throw in a favorite pair of OTK boots, and you’re ready to take a walk on the wild side!
Plush Crush
We finally had a chilly day last week. One. But it was the perfect opportunity to shoot this adorable faux fur jacket. I first spied it online, then tried it on in-store, then finally broke down and ordered it online. And I LOVE it. It is so cute and so cozy I want more cold weather. Pronto. I’m wearing a “borrowed from the boys” kind of outfit with it, but it will look super when paired with a velvet dress or…just about anything.
Mood Indigo
Maybe it’s because I’m the mother of 3 boys, cough…young men, that I’m drawn to the color blue. Not to mention their (and my husband’s) school colors over the years! Good thing blue is such a deep and versatile color in the best ways possible. With its spectrum from sky light to inky dark, there’s a shade or two or three that’s flattering to everyone. At the moment, electric blue is on the fashion radar, but it’s a bit too intense for me. I’m more of a navy and dusty blue girl. I believe fashion is about being inspired by a trend and making it your own. So find the shade that suits your mood, the moment, and just be true to your blue.
A warm and fuzzy feeling
This Fall the fur is flying…off the runways and out of the stores. From luxury pelts to fabulous and faux, there is something furry for everyone. For this look I decided to accessorize with a new fave bag and slides, both trimmed in fun faux fur. Can I just say this raffia-and-fur bag is about the cutest thing! And these slides look luxe and feel like you’re walking on pillows. I forgot all about my plantar fascitis!
