Checking Out

I’m writing this post from our cabin in the Adirondacks, where we are waiting to be plowed out from under 18 inches of snow. And thinking how handy it would be to have this cozy checked jacket up here. With temps hovering around zero, I could even cuddle up in it indoors! It’s seriously that cold!! But as you can see, this checked jacket looks equally at home in the big city.

Fa-la-la Flannel!

I’m thinking this look is the country counterpoint to my last Jersey City post…which was 11 days ago! I have been the busiest over these last almost-2-weeks that I’ve been in a long, long while. A big shoot and edit for a L’Oreal haircare project and a new campaign pitch on another haircare brand. While I do love what I do, I’ve missed posting! We shot this look last weekend, and it’s only now late on the following Friday night that I could sit down and write this post, share these pics. Hope you enjoy!

Leopard Love!

This fashion cat can never get enough of animal prints and embellishments, especially leopard. For me it’s really a neutral, albeit one that can take a tame outfit to wilder territory. For this look, I doubled down on the leopard with two of my new wardrobe loves — this adorable cat-eared hat and tailored jacket. Both are oh-so-cozy. Throw in a favorite pair of OTK boots, and you’re ready to take a walk on the wild side!

A Few of My Favorite Fall Things

It finally feels like Fall, so here a few of my favorite new things. I think the bold white booties are probably my newest obsession….for many reasons. First of all, the quality is so stellar I almost couldn’t believe it as I unpacked them. So pretty I was almost sad to hit the streets in them. They are the perfect combination of kid soft leather with a slight sheen. With a super walkable block heel. Even the soles were leather so pale it looked white. And they felt perfect the second I put them on. So yes, count them as my new #1 obsession. Thank you, Loeffler Randall!

5 Shades of Grey

img_0591If you could peek into my closet you’d see I probably do have 50 shades of grey (sorry…couldn’t resist). So while I probably build at least one outfit a week around this color, I’m also loving how it incorporates key fall/winter essentials: a cape, OTK (over-the-knee) boots, and beanie/scarf/mittens combo.

Over 50 & OTK Boots

img_0186Over 50 and Over-The-Knee Boots? Yes, you can! The OTK Boot has become an accessory that should find its place into every wardrobe — no matter your personal style or age. Since the trend took hold, I’ve added 4 pairs to my wardrobe. My oldest pair is up at our cabin, while the other 3 are in regular rotation in my fall/winter JC/NYC wardrobe. All are Stuart Weitzman, who’s the King of the OTK Boot as far as I’m concerned. While his boots (and shoes) are not cheap, they truly are investment dressing. If well maintained with water/stain protector and professional cleaning and repair, you will have them for many (many!) years to come.

Fall 2016: Velvet on Velvet

TGIF! It’s been a super busy week “day job” wise, as I’m juggling multiple freelance projects. All fun but demanding of my time. I had hoped to post a day or two ago, especially after the great shoot we had last weekend. And especially because I want to share some of my favorite fall fashion finds — pieces I know I (you?) will be wearing again and again. And will probably love just as much next year, too.
