Statement Tee, Two Ways

In case you missed it, the Statement Tee is making quite the fashion statement. From designer priced to under $10, from rock legends to bucket list destinations to political POVs, the Statement Tee is a quick, chic, and personalized way to update your look. It also happens to be my favorite way to refresh “shop my closet” outfits.

Statement Tee, Two Ways: Look 1

This Statement Tee is just one of about a half dozen I’ve bought this Summer — all on sale or very, very reasonably priced. Just to keep you up to date on this past year, take a look at this, this, this, this and this. But I could go on! Really! And in my book, that’s the beauty of Statement Tees. They are of the moment, but if you shop right and if they truly touch something in you, they will joyfully be worn again…and again..and again. Also, stylista thanks to my brilliant photographer Kristin for coming up with this fun, flattering back knot. Genius! Now if she could just be there whenever I want to recreate it…

Depending on how often you follow me, you may have seen this sequin skirt in this post. But a little sequin sparkle is a fun choice for any season, any reason, right? And while this blog post was shot during the day, I think this look would make a great Date Night or GNO (Girls Night Out) look when you want something a little (and I mean, a little) bit dressier. And the kicky fringe is just too fun to resist!

It’s not that I let locations determine looks, but the kismet of the whole situation just seemed more than perfect for simple yet striking black accessories — my beloved Valentino Rockstud sandals and a must-have beaded mini tote that’s big enough for all your essentials.

Before I get into outfit details, I want to give props to my favorite JC Developer, SILVERMAN, for having a local artist create this gorgeous graphic street art in announcement of a new luxury rental building to come. Way to go.

And stay tuned for Look 2!

Tee: (Banana Republic, now under $15!) I’m currently coveting this, this, this and this!

Skirt: (River Island, old) But plenty of sparkle here (under $100!), here (on sale!) and here (no sparkle but all fringe and under $20! Size up!!).

Sandals: (Valentino Rockstud, old) Latest version here (Yes…insanely expensive, but I scored mine @ Nordstrom Rack for under $400!), more affordable but still designer here and crazy affordable here.

Bag: (ASOS, and under $20!) But love this, this and this.

Last but not least, I would not be doing my fashion blogger duty if I didn’t remind you to take a look at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It only happens once a year! From bras (my absolute favorite), to skincare (this is the body bomb!) to cozy winter coats and stylish boots, you can get some amazing deals. Peruse at your peril. Happy shopping!

  1. I love what you did to to the tee in the back. I typically don’t wear tees because they have little form – this gives it more shape – I love it!

  2. I’ve been considering the statement tee lately! This gives me the courage to do it! Just ordered the pink “Good Vibes” one! Yay!!
