Baby, it’s cold outside!

I can’t believe it’s already the last day of 2017, and that we’ll wake up to a New Year tomorrow. But before that happens one last post from our last day up in the Dacks, at least for a few weeks. And if you can’t tell  by my “frozen” smile, it was seriously cold up there! What you can see with this outfit: a pom-pom beanie, puffer and OTK boots. What’s not obvious? The Uniqlo HEATTECH turtleneck and socks that helped me brave the single digit weather. While not down-filled, this puffer jacket keeps you quite cozy. And it’s also reversible!

Snowy Stroll

I’m writing this post from our cabin up in the Adirondacks, where they had a foot and and a half of snow two days ago. So as wintery as these pics make Jersey City look, it’s truly a winter wonderland up here. (I will be shooting some ADK posts over the holiday break so stay tuned for those.) Whether I’m dressing for a blog shoot or my “day job” most of my outfits start with a key piece that inspires the rest of the look. I started with this coat but looking at these pics now I’m newly inspired by every single piece. And plan to put them all into heavy wardrobe rotation.

Be Merry, Be Bright, Be You!

Hello, Holidays! Thanksgiving was just over a week ago. Do you feel like you blinked and one fantastic holiday is now hurtling towards another? I don’t know about you, but this time of year I feel like everything goes into hyper mode. I made a detailed TO DO list today, and guess what, not checking it all off. But while we’re all multi-tasking,  let’s also take a deep breath.  We’ve got time to get it done.

A Few of My Favorite Fall Things

It finally feels like Fall, so here a few of my favorite new things. I think the bold white booties are probably my newest obsession….for many reasons. First of all, the quality is so stellar I almost couldn’t believe it as I unpacked them. So pretty I was almost sad to hit the streets in them. They are the perfect combination of kid soft leather with a slight sheen. With a super walkable block heel. Even the soles were leather so pale it looked white. And they felt perfect the second I put them on. So yes, count them as my new #1 obsession. Thank you, Loeffler Randall!

Mood Indigo

Maybe it’s because I’m the mother of 3 boys, cough…young men, that I’m drawn to the color blue. Not to mention their (and my husband’s) school colors over the years! Good thing blue is such a deep and versatile color in the best ways possible. With its spectrum from sky light to inky dark, there’s a shade or two or three that’s flattering to everyone. At the moment, electric blue is on the fashion radar, but it’s a bit too intense for me. I’m more of a navy and dusty blue girl. I believe fashion is about being inspired by a trend and making it your own. So find the shade that suits your mood, the moment, and just be true to your blue.

Get Away with Gingham

Hope you had a great weekend! We are having the most amazing weather, and we got to enjoy it even more up at our Adirondack cabin. As you can see, it was seriously picture perfect up there. We always try to go to the Sugar House Creamery and stock up on milk, cheese, eggs and whatever looks good from the Farmer’s Market. New item…pumpkin spice scones! Crazy delicious!! We also had a weekend guest who is a dear friend but also a most talented Producer/Director. I was lucky to have her volunteer to be the photog for this post. BTW, SHC has the cutest Airbnb if you want to come up here and see just how special North Country living is.

Falling for Florals

After four straight nights of amazing music, socializing and restaurants, I am racing to post this before midnight. I made two posts a week my goal so here goes. This look starts with this AMAZING dress that costs $36.99! Seriously!! It’s from the always need-to-shop Who What Wear collaboration with Target. Florals are big this Fall but some just look too Spring-y to me. This one is different. And I think it will still look fresh come Spring/Summer, especially with some strappy black sandals.

A warm and fuzzy feeling

This Fall the fur is flying…off the runways and out of the stores. From luxury pelts to fabulous and faux, there is something furry for everyone. For this look I decided to accessorize with a new fave bag and slides, both trimmed in fun faux fur. Can I just say this raffia-and-fur bag is about the cutest thing! And these slides look luxe and feel like you’re walking on pillows. I forgot all about my plantar fascitis!

Paisley, Please!

Sure everyone is Falling for florals, but paisley is having a moment, too. Maybe it’s because I’m a child of the 60s, but paisley is one of my favorite patterns. Especially in autumnal tones like the brown, rust and teal of this dress from the Olivia Palermo Collection for Banana Republic. If ever there was a style icon to emulate, Olivia is it! No matter your age!! And if you agree, run, don’t walk to the BR website and check out this must-have, sure-to-sell-out capsule collection!!! And how about these velvet mules? I’m totally crushing on them.

Doubling Down on Denim

Whether you embrace the “Canadian Tuxedo” or it’s the nadir of style as far as you’re concerned, it is having a fashion moment. On the runways. And on the streets. I love both this jean jacket and these jeans, so I decided to style my way out of any doubt. The key to success with a Double Denim look is mixing the washes of your two denim pieces. I usually gravitate to darker washes in my jeans, especially given that Fall is here. Darker washes are also more flattering and slimming to every body type.
