Pastel Patrol

Forget the “fashion rule” that says pastels are only for Summer. There’s no easier or better way to lighten your Fall/Winter wardrobe — or your mood — than by adding a dash of these delicate hues. My suggestion? Every now and then switch up the deeper hues that most of us will reach for in the months ahead with a pale blue, pink or lavender. These pretty colors add a nice contrast when paired with always reliable black, too.

How does my garden grow?

With wildflowers in all their colorful and unruly glory! Amidst the ongoing Coronavirus Crisis, it hasn’t been lost on me that I am blessed to have this idyllic hideaway to escape to. Chris and I have stayed healthy thus far, even going back and forth between our cabin and our Jersey City apartment, and I really (really!) don’t want to get sick now. That’s why I’ve been spending most of my time up in the Adirondacks, where it’s wild and beautiful and much easier to practice social distancing while still gathering with friends who are doing the same. Not to mention hiking on trails and walking in the woods or on quiet roads without crowds of people. I carry my mask along and wear it as soon as I approach anyone else. I can breathe up here. And I can smell the flowers!

Pattern Clash

I don’t know if I’m all about overalls, but I am all about mixing and matching my favorite fall patterns. If that means taking a walk on the wild side, then count me in. Layering on classic houndstooth check and lovable leopard just feels right. It’s my “pattern clash” of choice, and I’d encourage you to give your own version a try.

Favorite Fall Fashion Finds

This post is all about a few of my favorite Fall fashion finds. Some were shopped directly from my wardrobe once I finished my seasonal closet changeover, while others are new purchases already in heavy rotation. Like these high-rise cigarette jeans I’ve been wearing with everything. Seriously, I love them so much I have to stop myself from reaching for them every day. Or do I? (Spoiler alert: wearing them as I write this post!)

Leather Weather

Well, hello there. I’m not going to ask if you missed me or my posts, but it’s been awhile. (I missed you!) Not sure what kind of social media funk I was in, but it seems to have lifted with the crisp autumn air that’s finally arrived. Which gave me the perfect reason to pair these amazing black leather jeans (splurge alert!) with a cozy sweater and teddy coat, as well as some covetable accessories. Happy Fall, y’all!

Easy, Tiger!

Greetings, fierce fashionistas. The Urban Dictionary defines this classic Yorkshire term (you go, Brits) as “Calm down!” Well, I’m feeling calm, but I’m not feeling Fall. Yet. It was 93 degrees in Jersey City yesterday! So it might just be this tropical jungle weather that’s got me feeling all tiger-y. (Yeah, not a real word, but it works.) Or, it might be WhoWhatWear x Target, the collection that’s killing it this season with all things animal print. (Excuse the non-PC pun, please.) Read on for all the details about what I’m wearing these days, especially this on-trend, tiger stripe top that’s an easy, versatile and affordable way to add this must-have print to your Fall wardrobe.

Queen for a Day

I Queen, you Queen, we all Queen! But for what? How about whatever your heart desires. If I put aside my To Do list for 24 hours, and crowned myself Queen for a Day, where would I start? Hmmm, it’s hard to do whatever you want to do. We’re all so programmed to do what we need to, have to, simply can’t not do. While Queen for a Day is still a work in progress, I’m pretty sure I can come up with one simple thing I really want to do each and every day. And then give myself the time and permission to do it. Baby steps, right? Or maybe a leap now and then.

Thinking Pink!

This rose pink maxi dress is seriously my favorite find for this summer…and beyond. (I plan to layer a black turtleneck underneath and add black booties come Fall.) This color is flattering to every skin tone! Truly!! Just for fun, I wore this exact outfit to a VERY BIG beach party, and so many women said they LOVED the color. I am normally not a big fan of PINK, but I’m making a major exception for this maxi dress! Maybe you should too?

Go Fourth and Be You

Flags, fireworks, frankfurters…however you celebrate, the 4th of July is America’s quintessential summer holiday. And let’s face it, any combination of red, white and blue is one color combo that never gets old. So if you’re looking for a little inspo on how to refresh your summer wardrobe (and maybe a bit of deeper thinking), this post is for you.

Get Pinked!

I don’t know if it’s coming off Valentine’s Day or hoping the Groundhog is right about an early Spring, but I’m thinking pink theses days. It’s a fun, pretty color that’s the perfect antidote to Winter’s head-to-toe black. But since we’re not out of the cold just yet…pink fleece pullover and a pink beanie are wear now options I’m wanting to add to my wardrobe.
